Obituary For Mr. Raymond "Jack" Penn

Mr. Raymond "Jack" Penn departed this life on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at the Stone Rise (Brier) Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, Fairlea WV.

Jack was born December 21, 1929 in Sun WV, and was the son of the late Hunn and Mary Catherine Penn of Beckley WV.

In addition to his parents, he was received in death by his wife of 45 years, Geraldine.

Jack attended Stratton High School in Beckley. He was a member of the St James Methodist Church. In later years he attended Rhema Christian Center.

Jack was a member of the King Hiram Masonic Lodge #7 and a member of the Ramaden Tel. #127. He was a Greenbriar Union Representative for 863 & 1182.

He retired from the Greenbriar Hotel as a Massage Therapist after 31 years, and later worked for Humana Hospital as a Nurse's Assistant / Orderly. Jack was also a Security Officer for the WV State Fair.

Jack loved golfing, cooking, traveling, and conversations on politics. He always had a newspaper in hand and he had a very generous heart.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by his wife Geraldine, four brothers; Sylvester, James, Leonard, and David Penn; three sisters, Gladys Richmond, Geraldine Martin, and Betty Poindexter.

Those left to cherish his memory are three brothers, Charles, Donald, and Ronald Penn; two sisters, Mary Barnes and Charlotte Jackson and a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Gary Vet, Santana Erskine, Ray Erskine, Alfonso Calhoun, CC Coles, Warren Stitch, Sandy and Andrew Jones, Envy Easley, Dave Gabris, Charlotte Sweeney and many others.

Jack's family and friends would like to graciously thank Sun Rise (Brier) Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for their loving care of our dear Jack, and the staff and management of the Ritchie &Johnson Funeral Parlor, and those who sent personal and collective prayers, cards, and notes of comfort.

Upon Jack's request, he will be cremated with no public services.

"God saw the road was getting rough The hills to hard to climb He gently closed Jack's loving eyes And whispered "Peace be thine". Jack's weary nights are past Jack's very patience and worn out frame Has found sweet rest at last."

Uncle Jack, I'm sure Aunt Geraldine, Grandma, Daddy and Pappy were at the gates to greet you. Rest in Peace, Hunn Raymond. Thank you for spoiling me, Candice and Casi like we were your grandchildren when we were little girls. Looking at the pictures of us at your house bring back so many memories.
