Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Ricardo Leport Christian was born on June 30, 1953, to the late Mr. and Mrs. Jesse and Mary Barry Christian in Chicago IL.

Ricardo was the second of three children.

Ricardo, affectionately called Ricky, by his family and Rick by his friends, his laid-back demeanor would have you believe he wasn’t in the room. But he would be taking it all in.

Ricardo was baptized at an early age at Corpus Christi Roman Catholic Church, Chicago IL. He confessed Christ at a young age according to the Christian churches’ tradition, Christ crucified for our redemption. Amen.

Ricardo received his formal education in Chicago Il. at Corpus Christi Grammar School and St. Ann School and attended Dunbar Vocational High School, where he graduated in 1972. He spent many summers in WV with his second parents, Leroy and Wilsey Glenn, (Mama Wilsey and Daddy Leroy}.

Ricardo, upon graduation from high school, came to Beckley WV for a summer visit and never left. To the delight of Daddy Leroy and Mama Wilsey they began to nurture him in their business of Boat Marina. Also, while in Beckley WV. he earned his associate degree in business. Both, Leroy and Wilsey Glenn, preceded him in death.

Ricardo went on to open his own marina in Rand, WV naming it “Ricks Marina”.

Ricardo met and married his lifelong love, Audrey Robin Christian Scott. They married on August 15, 1981, to this union they added two children, Cherese Phylicia Christian, and Ricardo Mario Christian. Audrey Robin Christian, his beloved wife and partner preceded him in death. He also had his first daughter, LaSandra Patrice Hawthorne of Beckley, WV.

Ricardo deeply loved his children, but he loved and adored his three grandchildren. They were the light of his life.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday, January 26, 2024 at Levi First Missionary Baptist Church 5125 Church Dr. Charleston.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
