Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Richard Allen Greene Sr., 79, of Beckley, went to be with the Lord Friday, September 13, 2024.

Richard, on a Friday, July 27, 1945 in Hinton, WV, was born to the late Frank and Dorothy M. Pack Greene Jr.

Richard was a graduate of Stratton High School. He was a very dedicated worker. In his younger years, he did newspaper service; worked at the A&P Store for 16 years; then as a stock clerk at Raleigh General Hospital for 35 years with a smile.

Richard was a faithful servant doing and being kind to one another. He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church then St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, where he ushered and maintained the church.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Those left to cherish precious memories with much love are his cherished wife of 49 years, Millicent Lynette, “I was so blessed to have him in my life”; children, Richard Jr. (Lillian) of Charlotte, NC, James (Tracie) of Houston, TX, Natalie of Charlotte, NC; five grandchildren, Michael, Tmiyah, Anthony, Xavier and London; two great-granddaughters; many nieces and nephews; two sisters, Martha (Larry, deceased) Wright of Independence, KY; and Rose A. (Dan) Blaney of Florence, KY; in-laws, James and Melba Hoskins, Yvette Pemberton and Drema Ellerbie; and a host of other family and friends.

Graveside service will be 2:00PM Friday, September 20, 2024 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity with Rev. Debra Smoot officiating.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family from 1:00AM - 1:45PM at the funeral parlor.
