Obituary For Mr. Richard Darnel Wallace

Mr. Richard Darnell Wallace, affectionately known as “Rick” or “Love Dog”, was born on March 31, 1959, in Mt. Hope, WV, to Rufus and Vivian Wallace, both of whom preceded him in death.

Rick was the youngest of eight siblings, one of whom, Rufus (Denise), also preceded him in death.

His surviving siblings are Larry (Sherrye), Valeria (Gerald), Rudolph (Maureen), Margo (Jerry), Vena, and Michael.

Rick, at an early age, accepted Christ. He graduated from Mt. Hope High School in Mt. Hope, WV, in 1979. Shortly after graduating, Rick relocated to Detroit, MI, to pursue a career. In Detroit, he met the love of his life, his wife, Venonia Brown-Wallace. Together, they raised four amazing children: Richard Clark, Rickeya Brown, Kiera Brown, and Taylor Wallace.

Rick was a proud and loving “Pa-Pa”; to his grandchildren: David, Sabrina, Asia, Richard II, Aniya, Rimoni, Roseri, King, Seth, Amiyah, Madison, and Judah, along with his special “Grand Dog, Ace”. He was also blessed with three great-grandchildren who brought him endless joy.

Rick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He had a passion for hot rods (especially Chevys), visiting the casino, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his family.

Rick, on Wednesday, October 30, 2024, peacefully made his transition.

Rick leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife; four children; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Rick’s warmth, laughter, and love will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday, November 22, 2024 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel 748 S. Fayette St. Beckley with Elder Robert Hicks officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing mask and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one-hour prior to the service.
