Obituary For Mr. Ronald L. Shelton

Mr. Ronald Lee Shelton, aka “Bunn”, 75, of Scarbro, WV passed away Thursday, March 5, 2026.

Ronald was born on December 28, 1950 in Sun, WV, to the late Thomas and Juanita Shelton.

Ronald moved with the family to Whipple, WV, where he attended Scarbro Elementary School and onto Oak Hill High School and was enrolled from grades 9-11. He left Oak Hill High School in the 11th grade and listed in the United States Marine Corps. He was only 17 years old when he was deployed to fight in the Vietnam War. In 1971, after surviving the war, he returned home with mental and physical problems (PTSD and Agent Orange) that resulted in consistent medical care provided by Beckley VA hospital. His mother, Juanita, was his home caregiver until her passing in 2007. His sister, Flossie Craighead, provided care for him until his passing.

Ronald enjoyed fishing, oil painting, playing his bongo drums, writing songs, poems, and music.

Ronald, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his brothers, John Shelton and Lamont Shelton and sisters, Ruth, Cecilia, and Faith Ann.

Ronald leaves to cherish memories his brothers, Nathan, Hobart (Vivian), Victory (Lidia) and Frank Shelton; sisters, Flossie Craighead, Betty McCann and Grace Gray; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Memorial service will be 12:00PM Saturday March 14, 2026 at the Glorious Church of God in Christ 421 Main St. Mt. Hope.

Friends may visit with the family one-hour prior.
