Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Ronald V. Mason, age 69, of Beckley, passed away at Raleigh General Hospital on the morning of Friday, April 1, 2016 with his wife, children, and siblings by his side.

He was born in Washington, DC to the late David Mason and Ophelia Mason Motley Belcher.

He was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and was retired from the Raleigh County Board of Education.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Cordelia Marshall Mason; children, Ira ôRandyö (Camisha), Ronald ôLaVaughnö, and April Denise, all of Beckley; seven grandchildren, Marques, AkwondreÆ , Taeshaniq, Tytus, Zaequan, Elijah, and Braien; brothers, Samuel (Mildred) Mason of Moreno Valley, CA, Frank (Kathy) Motley and Quincy A. Madison, both of Beckley; sisters, Victoria (Rodney) Davis of McLeansville, NC and Nancy O. Carson of Beckley; brother-in-law, Douglas Marshall II of Beckley; sister-in-law, Shelia Hunt of Dunbar, WV; cousin, Rev. Earl Jackson of Beckley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be held at Welcome Baptist Church, 206 Eighth Street, on Saturday, April 9, at 1:00 p.m., with interment following in Greenwood Memorial Park. Pastor David F. Allen will be the eulogist and will be assisted by Rev. Thomas Steelman, Rev. Thomas V. Moore, and Bishop Fred T. Simms. Visitation will be at 12:00 noon.
