Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Rufus Levance Spillman, 67, of Deepwater, WV passed Thursday, August 29, 2024.

Rufus was born November 11, 1956 in Deepwater, WV to the late John and Ruth Turner Spillman.

Rufus worked many jobs and in his younger years he played football in school and also boxed for the Queen boxing club in Montgomery, WV. He also took classes and became a certified welder as well as serving for his country in the US Navy.

Rufus, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Wells, and children, William (Billy) Terrell and Kelly (Sissy) Watson and grandson, Isaiah Divita.

Leaving behind to cherish his memories are his daughters, Terri Williams, Suzanne Spillman, Rachel Coles, and Carmilla (Michael) Lewis; sons, Rudy Watson and Ryan Watson; niece, Teresa (Melvin) Clifton; nephew, Clinton Walls; uncle, Donald (Willene) White; 31 grandchildren; great grandchildren, and a host of friends and family.

Family directed memorial service will be 1:00PM Friday, September 6, 2024 at Morning Star Baptist Church Deepwater, WV with Rev. William Isaac Kinney officiating.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family from 11:00AM - 1:00PM.
