Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Sylvester Lee Adams, Sr., 92, of Fort Washington, MD, formerly of Harper Heights, WV died Thursday, November 3, 2016.

Born March 27, 1924 in Winding Gulf, WV, he was the son of the late Johnnie and Annie Taylor Adams.

He worked as foreman for Rife Branch Coal Company and was United States Army veteran. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church, Harper Heights, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Clara Julia Jackson Adams; brothers, John, Cleive and Henry Adams; and sister, Clemetine Witten.

Left to cherish precious memories are his children, Donna (David) Ferguson of Fort Washington, MD, Gayle Bass of Mitchellville, MD, Anita (Todd) Rolley of Bowie, MD, Sylvia (Marvin) Smith of Fort Washington, MD, and Sylvester (Juanita) Adams, Jr. of Florida; sisters, Virginia Loverine Whitlow and Channie Buster, both of Beckley, WV; 7 grandchildren;7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 Noon Friday, November 11, 2016 at St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, 103 Mills Ave., Beckley, WV with Rev. Calvin Moore and Rev. Debra Smoot officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
