Obituary For Mr. Thomas Lash

Mr. Thomas Lash 95, of Rhodell, WV went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.

Thomas was born on March 4, 1928, to the union of John Kent Lash and Georgia Johnson.

Thomas was an only child.

Thomas accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rhodell for over thirty years. Thomas was an ordained Deacon under the leadership of Rev. Calvin Moore.

The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Psalm 37:23

Thomas received his education at Byrd Prillerman Highschool. He worked in the coal mine until he retired.

Thomas served in the United States Army and received an Honorable Discharge.

Thomas was reunited with the love of his life, Geraldine Lash, who was awaiting his arrival at Heaven's Gate.

Thomas was a wonderful husband, father, son and grandfather. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and share so much of his wisdom and knowledge he gained throughout the years.

Thomas leaves to mourn his children, Ricardo (Nadia) Cox, Melvin Smith, Robert Hurte, Leon Smith, Demetrich (Love) Evans, Regina Myers, Victoria Jackson, Willie (Brian) Minter, Rev. Millicent (Richard) Green, Rosetta Yvette Pemberton, and Leslie “Kitty” Cox; his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews. He had a special place in his heart for Little Roger (Skimmer Horn), Ms. Geraldine Anderson, Mr. Billy Alexander, sister-in-law Beverly Walk-ins, his Pastor and church family.

Special thanks to Melvin Smith for your love and support and all that you have done caring for our father; Ms. Geraldine Anderson, Mr. Billy Alexander, his favorite sister-in-law, Ms. Beverly Walkins, his Christian family, and pastor.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Friday, September 22 2023 at Rhodell Church of God Coal City Road Rhodell with Rev. Calvin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

The family of the late Robert and late Amanda Hooker sends our deep condolences to the family. Our dad was from the Rhodell area as well. Mr. Tommy and dad were friends back in the day. From time to time I would call to check to see how Mr Tommy was doing. As I called today I could not reach him. So I knew something wasn't right. So my heart was sad to find out that Mr Tommy had gone home to be with the Lord. I will miss our conversation. May God give you comfort and peace at this difficult time. From the late Robert Hooker children. (Pamela, Deborah and Robert the 3rd Hooker)

So very sorry to hear this. Tom was one of my favorite people in the world cause he loved the Lord so much. We worked together at Eastern for many years. I know that "Hooks" will surely be glad to see his dear friend. I learned so much about the coal mine from him and we shared learning about Jesus. Tom tell all I said hi when you get to heaven and just watch for me and I will see you soon. Love ya Tom Heaven is much brighter with you there.
