Obituary For Mr. Tyrone Len "Ty" Hamby

Mr. Tyrone β€œTy” Len Hamby, 56, of Beckley, WV made his transition in the early hours Tuesday, September 10, 2024 in Beckley, WV after a strong battle with an ongoing illness.

Tyrone was born in Beckley WV June 2, 1968 to the late Katrina Hamby.

Tyrone was the oldest of two children. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School, where he played basketball and football.

Tyrone, after high school, served in the US Navy. He had a range of interests from sports, movies, music to art and writing. Although he enjoyed basketball, he loved football, and his favorite NFL team is the San Francisco 49ers.

Tyrone also loved the outdoors and would go for walks; hikes and he loved visiting waterfalls and swimming holes. He enjoyed living life and all the simple beautiful things about it. He didn't spend his whole life in WV. He spent time in Hilton Head, SC, where he loved to enjoy his time at the beach and walks on the boardwalk.

Tyrone loved life and the people he shared it with. His humor and playfulness left a lasting impression on the lives he touched.

Tyrone, in addition to his mother, Katrina Ann Hamby, was preceded in death by his grandparents, William and Cleola Hamby, aunts, Cleola β€œDee” (Bobby)Blaney and recently departed, Jeanette Hamby, uncles, James β€œJimmy” Hamby, Ronald β€œRonnie” Hamby, and Roger Hamby.

Tyrone is survived by his two daughters Aryel (Eric) Kyzer and Hailey (Rodney) Stephens; two sons, Seth Wingrove and Jonathan β€œJayden” Hamby; grandchildren, Atticus and Calliope Stephens; sister, Tracey Hamby; nephew, Nicco Hamby; nieces, TaBree Hamby, Tia (Chris) Stover and TaJasia Hamby; aunts, Audrey Johnson Patricia Sorrell; uncle, William (Wanda) Hamby and great-niece, Nyaira; great-nephews, Brayden, Bryce, and Julian and also, a host of cousins and friends, who loved him dearly.

Tyrone, although he may no longer walk among us in the physical realm, his spirit rest with our Lord and his mother in eternal life. His memory lives on in us forever and ever.

As per his request, he was cremated.

Family directed memorial service will be 2:00PM Sunday, September 22, 2024 at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church 141 New Guinea Ave., Lanark, WV. With Pastor Damon Hamby officiating.

Ty was not only a trusted true friend to me, but a brother. No one could match up to his love for people. He was such a giving and huge hearted man. The first time I met Ty, we was young kids that went to the YMCA and hung out. Ty took me under his wing and taught me how to play basketball, ping pong, and pool. I know that sounds funny but he was a huge inspiration to me. I will forever miss him, but I know he is not sick anymore and happy to be with the Lord. I love you brother RIP. Will see you again one day

I met Tyrone at the YMCA because his mom and I worked there together. He and Traci are one of my best memories of the Y. He was a typical teenager always carrying on with one thing or another. He always called me mom, because I always asked him what meanness he was into and he said I sounded like his real mom. Katrina and I worked at Waldenbooks together too. When I read that Katrina had passed away I thought what will Ty and Traci do without her, BUT life goes on the same as it always does, like it or not. Traci and family I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you. We all have an appointed time to leave here and it was Ty's time. Jesus' returning is imminent we all need to seek the Lord more than ever. I pray the Lord will hold all of you tightly in His arms and bring comfort to your hearts today and all the days ahead. Look only to Jesus and put your faith and trust and your very life only in His hands, and He will carry you through. God bless all of you.
