Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

On the morning of February 9, 2022, William Lorenzo Charles “Tookie” Thomas went home to be with the Lord.

Born February 23, 1967, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of Cynthia Ann Griffin Thomas of Rhodell, WV and the late William Jackson Thomas.

He was a graduate of Independence High School, where he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track.

He worked at Urethane Specialty in Mullins, WV.

Though he never married, nor had children of his own, he was known as “Uncle Took” and loved and was kind to all children.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Charles and Evelyn Pannell Griffin; paternal grandparents, John and Ada Gunner Thomas and brother, Antonio Thomas.

In addition to his mother, he leaves to mourn his death his brothers, Don Thomas of Atlanta, GA, and Andre and Robert Thomas, both of Beckley WV; aunt, Joan Spencer of Fredericksburg, VA; uncles, Larry Griffin of Rhodell, WV and Michael Griffin of OH and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, March 5, 2022 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Rev. Calvin Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
