Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Audrey Jean Cain Cox, 72, of Roanoke, VA formerly of Beckley died Wednesday, August 24, 2016.

Born in Beckley, on December 10, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Herbert G. Cain and Roberta Richmond Cain Scott.

A 1961 graduate of Stratton High School, Audrey attended West Virginia State College and later graduated from Beckley College. She was employed by the USPS in Charleston, WV, retiring in Beckley, WV. She was then employed by the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Beckley, WV, retiring from the Release of Information Department in December 2002. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, Beckley, WV, a daughter of Maggie L. Walker Temple 738 and will be remembered by her works for the Stratton Alumni Association and the Cox Social Club football trips. She loved football, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Those left to cherish precious memories are two loving daughters, Jamie Arrington (Edward) Hunt of Roanoke, VA and Ronnetta Pharms of Saginaw, TX; grandchildren, Shakirah Tori-Suan Cox, Mikiel DaMone Selman, Jazz DÆWyatt Lynch and Jamaal Mecheo Ombui; great-grandson, Kaedyn Monte Rutledge; brother, Darryl Scott of Beckley, WV; sister, Bethel Scott of Saginaw, TX; aunt, Geneva Richmond of Beckley, WV; uncle, James Arthur Richmond, Jr. of Geneva, NY; special friends, Carlton and Brenda Cunningham, Betty Pemberton, Frank House, Dedria Bradley, Carl Washington and Family, Vernal Washington and Family, Wilson Watson, Jr., Eddie Collins, Evangelist Tomeka Robinson, Crystal Price and Sarah Banks and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016, at the Stratton Junior High School Herbert G. Cain Memorial Football Field, Beckley, Rev. Ronald Smith officiating. Friends may call 30 minutes prior to the service at the field.
