Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Ms. Barbara Karen Walters, 62, of Beckley, gained her angel wings Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Bowers Hospice House following a long illness.

Born May 1, 1957 in Beckley, she was the daughter of the late Ben Davis and Mattie B. Jones Walters.

Barbara was a graduate of Beckley Beauty Academy and a member of Word of Truth church. She was employed at Food Lion where she worked in the produce department and had also worked as a beautician.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Anthony Ray Walters; brothers, Clifford Jones and Anthony “Scrap” Walters; uncle, Lawrence Franklin Jones and aunt, Lucy Borders.

Those left to cherish her precious memories are her son, Mitch Tyrone (Ashleigh Motley) Walters of Beckley, who helped care for her throughout her courageous battle with cancer; daughter-in- law, Rashika Walters of Winston Salem, NC; five grandsons, Anthony II, Andre, Mekhi, Myles and Matthias Walters; and one great-grandson, Anthony III; special friends, Grace Pannell, Renee Borders, Vicky & Tim Curtis, Mary Heath, and Joanna Penney and a host of many other relatives and friends.

Barbara was a classy diva who loved church, shopping, and spending time with some of her dearest family and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Monday, July 1, 2019 at Word of Truth COGIC, 911 Terrill Street, Beckley with Pastor Sandra Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
