Obituary For Mrs. Bernice “Dickie” Nalls Clayton

On Wednesday, January 19, 2022, Bernice Nalls Clayton passed away at age 89. Mrs. Clayton was preceded in death by her parents C.L. and Evelyn Nalls; daughter, Annette Fruit and siblings, Doris Jean Lewis and David A. Nalls.

She is survived by children, Katherine, Carl, David Michael (Ronda) and Melissa; four grandchildren, Tara, Anika (Cameron), Geoffrey and Taylor; two great-grandchildren, Jillian and Cameron; sister, Annette De L’Eveille and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. Before retirement, Bernice worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse, which including caring for others at Appalachian Regional Hospitals, Southern West Virginia Clinic, and the New River Health Center. She was an avid reader, enjoyed cooking, loved gardening and had a passion for creating beautiful artworks. She served as a Board of Directors member for the Fayette County Libraries and was a lifelong member of the United Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Hope, WV, where she dutifully served for many years as the Church Clerk.

She’ll be remembered for her loving kindness and connection to everyone.

    My condolences to her family. Bernice was my neighbor for 17 years. Would do anything for her she always knew she could call us if she needed anything. She will be missed! She always had a smile on her face and loved her little doggie 💕 Sending Prayers 🙏

    She started out my classmates mom. Then she was my nurse when I was pregnant with my first son. Later we became co workers and co church members and last but not least friends. She was loved and will be missed. Love and prayers to your family. Celeste (Hope) and Michael Morgan
