Obituary For Mrs. Bernice Wilson

Mrs. Bernice Wilson, 93 of Mabscott, WV, formerly of Livingston, AL, gained her wings on September 4, 2021. A true woman and warrior of the Lord, She wore many hats and touched a lot of people’s lives just by being the loving person she was. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, preacher, teacher, friend and definitely a songstress. She loved to praise the Lord through song where she would sing songs like; I Love To Praise Him, Another Day’s Journey, Prayer Changes Things, Trouble In My Way, and her favorite, One More Day.

She loved her family and her extended family and was often referred to as Grandma Bernice or Mother Wilson by so many and treated everyone with the love and kindness as if they were her own. She was a grandmother who looked out for and prayed over the children of the community.

She loved preaching the gospel and one of her last messages preached was: “IT IS THE BOOK”!! She lived the life that she preached about according to the bible. She believed in the power of prayer and how prayer changes things and would often offer the advice to “pray about it.” She instilled a lot of things in her family one thing was”, it is not what you say but how you say it” and treating people as you would like to be treated. She will be sorely missed but her lovingness, kindness, wit and humor will never be forgotten.

She was born on February 1, 1928 in Livingston, AL and was the daughter of the Late Ed and Clara Hare.

She was a homemaker and everyone was always welcomed and treated as family. She was a member of New Bethel Temple United Holy Church, Mool Ave. Beckley for over 40 years and serviced as a Choir director, Devotional Leader, A Preacher and Teacher and worked in the Kitchen alongside some of her good friends such as, Virgillous Glenn, Virgie Morrow and Mozelle Smith. She later became a faithful member of Manna House Ministries and remained as a member until her passing, where Bishop Herman Bryant is pastor.

She was proceeded in death by her parents: Edd and Clara Hare, her adopted parents: William and Adeline McCoy, 2 husbands, Mose Wilson and George Graves; brother, Clarence Hare; sisters, Mable Warren, Eddie Mae White, Betty Alice Thomas, 3 sons, Ralph Wilson, William (Roy) Wilson and Lewis Wilson and 1 daughter, Marion C. Henry.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory, 3 daughters, Norma Jean Robertson of Beckley, WV, Beverly (Randy) Robertson and Russchelle Wilson, both of Mabscott, WV; 13 grandchildren; numerous great- grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, special children and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00Noon Friday, September 17, 2021 at Manna House Ministries 700 F. St. Beckley with Elder Herman Bryant officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

It's hard to believe that her beautifully dimpled smile, will no longer grace our presence in this cold world. The way she used to sing God's passes with such ease and conviction was truly a thing to behold. This lady could start a devotional song 🎵 and sing until the power of the Lord filled the temple, and she will be missed. Rest well "Mother Wilson," for your labor was not in vain.
