Obituary For Mrs. Bessie Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bibbs
Mrs. Bessie Elizabeth Bibbs, or Lizzie, as she was affectionately known to family and friends, was born on March 29, 1922 in Quinnimont, WV. She departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at the age of 100. To have lived that long is a testament that the life she lived was a good one in God’s eyes.
Lizzie was always one to put others first. She loved to cook and serve others. She always wanted to make sure that those around her were well fed. It didn’t matter if it was a friend or family member. Never one to hold a grudge or lose her temper to anger she was always a kind, patient and caring person. She loved to sew and when she was able she had many customers who loved her work and her prices. She was never one to overcharge or even adequately charge for anything.
She never forget a birthday despite having so many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends, she always kept a birthday card to wish others a Happy Birthday. When you were in her presence you could feel the love emanating from her.
She was preceded in death by her two daughters, Patricia Bibbs and Joan McDaniels (Bibbs). Also preceding her in death were her mother and father, Clarine and Phillip Sheppard; two sisters, Esther Smith and Nannie Mae Sheppard, and her husband, Clinard T. Bibbs, all of whom she cared for during times of illness until their passing.
She leaves to cherish her memory 3 sons, Clinard (Sunny) T. Bibbs, Jr. of New Castle, DE, Charles “Rodney” Bibbs of Beckley, WV, and Richard “Rick” Bibbs of Glen Jean WV; grandchildren, Randall “Randy” Bibbs of Glen Jean, WV, Felice R. Bibbs of Duluth GA, Ryan T. Bibbs of New Castle, DE, Keith Bibbs of Newark, DE, Charles “Chums” Bibbs of Beckley WV, Clinard “Clint” Roberson (Bibbs) of IN and Elizabeth “Liz” Bibbs of Petersburg, VA; great-grandchildren, Felica Leadbetter, Ian and Chantel Hawthorne, Ryan Jr. and Joshua Bibbs, Kourtney Bibbs, Malcolm, A’den, and Makayla Bibbs, Lincoln and Oaklynn Roberson; great-great-grandchildren, ReSean, Edward, Princess and Faziah, Aniyah, Adonis and Amari and great-great-great-grandchildren, Anayla, Halani and Hendric.
She was the epitome of a mother, personification of a woman, essence of a human being and a good person and the embodiment of a loving soul. She is gone but her memory will last forever with those who knew and loved her.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Thursday, December 29,2022 at First Missionary Baptist Church of Glen Jean 469 Collins Hill Rd., Glen Jean with Rev. Eugene Nabors Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill.
