Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

On Monday, March 2, 2020 at 4:59 PM Betty Mae Robinson, formally of Beckley, peacefully entered into eternal rest at New Hope Gracious Personal Care in Pittsburgh, PA. Betty, affectionately known as mom, ma, Betty Mae, “B” Mae and Mae.

Betty was born in Summers County, WV on August 23, 1922 to the late Charlie and Isabella Wynes Scott.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Robinson; and her brother William “Nat” Brooks.

Betty was educated in the Greenbrier County school system; moved to Beckley and was a domestic worker, she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and was baptized in Talcott, WV.

Betty, a faithful servant, joined Welcome Baptist Church after moving to Beckley. She served on the usher board, singing in the gospel choir, worked diligently in many areas of church; served on the Mother’s board as well. She also worked for the Raleigh County Headstart. Betty studied and read her Bible daily.

Betty married the love of her life Edward Pete Robinson on July 14, 1962 by the Rev. Archie Johnson. This union was blessed by two children, Lionel Robinson (Heidi) of Tampa FL and LaDawn Karen Robinson of Pittsburgh, PA; granddaughter, Samara Delong and two great-grandsons.

She was a living angel. She opened her heart and home to everyone and no one was a stranger. Betty was dearly loved by all who knew her and she will be greatly missed.

Funeral service will be 12:00 noon, Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Welcome Baptist Church, 206 Eighth St. Beckley, with Bishop David F. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
