Obituary For Mrs. Betty Lee Leftwich Shelton

Mrs. Betty Lee Leftwich Shelton, 93, of Glen Jean, WV passed Friday, November 8, 2024.

Betty was born August 18, 1931 in Glen Jean, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Clara B. Dearing Leftwich.

Betty attended Dubois High School, Mt. Hope, WV and was a lifelong resident of Glen Jean, WV. She loved playing pokeno, cards with family and friends and bingo, until her health failed.

Betty was married to the late Floyd Shelton and to this union two children were born.

Betty, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by sisters, Virginia Ann Newsom. Margaret Deane and Dorothy Coy, great-granddaughter, Destine Star Daniels; brothers, Oliver Leftwich and Nathaniel Howard Leftwich; nephews, Thomas, Michael and Joseph Coy, Ronald Leftwich and Felipe Newsom; niece, Colethia Deane Goard and childhood, lifelong friend and neighbor, Helen M. Taylor Powell.

Betty leaves to cherish precious memories her daughter, Brenda Lee Shelton of Glen Jean, WV; son, Floyd Douglas Shelton II of Glen Jean, WV and son/grandson, Byron DaShawn Shelton of Glen Jean, WV; grandchildren, Rashad Shelton and Amber Shelton, both of Detroit, MI and Jamel Shelton of Glen Jean, WV; great-grandchildren, Byron DaShawn Shelton II, Jaquel Shelton, Zaniah Shelton, Alexis Shelton, Collin Shelton, Rashad Douglas Shelton Jr., TyLeek Shelton, Zoey Shelton, Chloe Shelton, Kuron Shelton and Armani Bella Shelton; great-great-grandchildren, Jade Daniels and A’Kiah Star Shelton; brothers, James Leftwich of Glen, Jean, WV and Jackie Leftwich of PA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, November 23, 2024 at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Glen Jean with Rev. William R. Stevens and Rev. Charles Blackmon officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
