Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Blonzetta Jasper Walker, 92, formerly of Mt. Hope, WV died Monday, June 5, 2017 in Brandermill Health Services Assisted Living in Midlothian, VA.

From birth in Mt. Hope, WV on April 23, 1925 to her death on Monday, she nourished people around her with love, faith, and compassion. Mrs. Walker was born to the late Robert Jasper and Julia Hamm and raised in a family of eleven children.

After graduating from Dubois High School, she attended Bluefield State College, Bluefield, WV. Following her training, she began her long and distinguished career as an English teacher and typing instructor in both Virginia and WV. She will be remembered as a bright, shining light in the various communities and churches she served. Friends and family always noted the keen intellect and sharp wit that was with her until her passing.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Walker, and nine siblings.

Surviving are her sister Janet Gardner of Oxford, GA and a number of loving nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be 10:00am Monday, June 12 at Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley with the Rev. Philip E. Copney Sr. officiating. Burial will follow.
