Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Corinne M. Pannell, 92, of Beckley, died Sunday, January 13, 2019.

Born September 21, 1926 in Affinity, WV, she was the daughter of the late Jack V. and Grace Ann Pryor Mayo.

She obtained an Associate’s Degree from Beckley College as a Medical Secretary and was employed by WV Job Services and WV Department of Human Services.

She accepted Christ at a very early age and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church for over 70 years. In January 1950, she joined in marriage to Talbert M. Pannell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Talbert, in July 1972; son, Edward Mason Pannell; special grandson Corey M. Pannell, in which she raised; grandsons, Mason Carter, Alan Pannell, and Alberto Pannell; and granddaughter, Tiffany Smith.

Left to cherish precious memories are sons, Talbert M. Pannell Jr. of Beckley and Valious J. (Valerie) Pannell of Woodbridge, VA; daughters, Alice D. Allen of Montclair, VA and Grace R. Dillard of Beckley; 16 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Special thanks to her caregivers, Talbert M. Pannell III, Kimberly Logan and Brenda “Red” Brown.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, January 19, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church, 305 Worley Road, Beckley, with Pastor Damon Hamby officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
