Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Dicie Mae Spencer, 78, of Raleigh, WV died Saturday, January 31, 2015.

Born September 28, 1936 in Raleigh, WV, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Willie and Elizabeth Branch Hairston.

Mrs. Spencer loved the Lord, and reading bible scriptures ôfirst thing in the morningsö, music life, her family and family gatherings.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Edward Spencer; daughter, Dicie Talaine Thompson; brothers, Raymond and Samuel ôBaby Boyö Hairston; son-in-law, Charles Wade, Jr.; special friend, James ôSlimö Bandy.

Left to cherish precious memories are her eight children, Diane (Raymond) Cook of South Carolina, Darrell (Regina) Spencer of Virginia, Gwendolyn (Maxie) Permenter of Maryland, Lydia Spencer, Darren (Deidre) Spencer, Glenda Wade, and Samuel Spencer, all of West Virginia, and Marquita (Andrew) Durgan of North Carolina; special granddaughter, Charlize Karmyn Thompson; son-in-law, Larry Thompson; brother, Maurice Hairston of Virginia; sister, Annette Dalton of Ohio; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00p.m., Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley, WV with Bishop Eunice Jones,

Bishop Fred T. Simms and Elder Virgillious Glenn officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
