Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Dorothy Lee Harvey, 75, of Beckley, died Tuesday, December 27, 2016.

Born September 17, 1941 in Whitby, WV, she was the daughter of the late James Howard and Ethel Hattie Thaxton Oliver.

Mrs. Harvey worked in dietary services for 20 years at Beckley Hospital and retired after six years from Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Dorothy was a member of St. Paul Baptist Temple, Beckley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Russell Jerome Oliver.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her husband, Richard Arlan Harvey Sr.; sons, Allan Preston (Monica) Thomas of Centreville, VA, James Howard (Sonya) Thomas of Roanoke, VA, Albert J. Glasco of Ashville, NC, Richard Arlan Harvey Jr. of Beckley, WV, Victor L. Thomas of Albemarle, NC. and James Nance of Hartford, CT; brother, Joseph Lewis Oliver Sr. of Beckley, WV.; sisters-in-law Jeanette Gibbs, Doris Gray, Mary Shelton and Kay Henderson; dear friends, Delena Redd, Vanessa Woodson and Delores Robinson; 14 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 3, 2016 at St. Paul Baptist Temple with Rev. Walter Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
