Obituary For Mrs. Dorothy Lee Mays
Mrs. Dorothy Lee Mays, 87, of Mt. Hope, died Thursday, August 9, 2018.
Born August 28, 1930, in Mt. Hope, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Calloway and Rosetta Payne.
She was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Hope, homemaker and worked as a caregiver.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; brothers, Leo Taylor Sr., Valarian Calloway, Carinsa Calloway, Raymond Payne; sisters, Nanette and Joanne Calloway, Janette Blacthe, Loretta Taylor; and grandson, James Jones Jr.
Left to cherish precious memories are her sons, Kenneth (Carmille) Mays of Beckley, Larry Mays of Oak Hill, Scott Mays of Pittsburgh, PA; daughters, Hope Mays and Belinda (Larry) Griggs, both of Charleston, and Delena (Bishop James) Jones of Beckley; sibling, Ettis Gray of Cleveland, OH; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00PM Thursday, August 16, 2018 at United Missionary Baptist Church, 205 S. Fayette Ave. Mt. Hope, with Rev. Phillip E. Copney Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
