Obituary For Mrs. Estelle Marie Barber

On Sunday, February 28, 2021, Mrs. Estelle Marie Barber departed this life.

Born December 22, 1935, she was the only child born to the late John Moses Jackson and Mary Ellen Burrell Jackson.

Estelle had one son, James Percell “Butch” Brown and was married to the late Robert F. “Jake” Barber. She spent the majority of her life in Beckley, WV.

She retired from Stone and Thomas Department Store after many years of employment. She loved to crotchet and make quilts for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many years singing in the Senior Choir at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by her son, James Percell “Butch” Brown.

Left to cherish precious memories are her stepson, Robert (Belinda) Joyce of Eufaula, Alabama; grandchildren, James “Tink” Brown of Beckley, Susan (Terrence) Turner and Morgan Hughes, both of Johnson City, Tennessee, Courtney Hughes of Austin, Texas; great-grandchildren, Elijah Redd of Johnson City, Tennessee, Breanna Lilly of Beckley, WV, Jaiden Lilly of Beckley, WV, Brooklyn Horton of Johnson City, Tennessee, Trenton Hughes of Johnson City, Tennessee, Preston Clary of Glade Springs, WV, McKenzie Hughes of Austin, Texas and Taylor Abreu of Johnson City, Tennessee and a host of friends and others whom she was affectionately known and called “Grandma Estelle”.

She is not with us now and yet she will still be with us because “to live in the hearts we leave behind, is not to die”.

Graveside service will be 11:00AM Monday, March 8, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park, 1925 Harper Road, Beckley, with Elder Davis Leo Moore officiating.
