Obituary For Mrs. Esther Viola Abrams

Mrs. Esther Viola Abrams was born in Wyco, WV. She was the youngest of 5 children born to the union of Floyd Lee Caldwell and Minnie Reed Caldwell.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, an infant son, two brothers, two sisters, a grandson, and a nephew.

Sister Abrams is survived by three sons, a daughter, an adopted daughter, five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Sister Abrams worked and retired from a Social Services Agency where she was the Outreach Director. This job suited her tremendously because she always had a kind and giving heart. Through this agency, she was able to provide food, clothing, and utility payments to so many people in need.

As a young woman, Sister Abrams was led to the ways of Pentecostal Holiness by the late Evangelist Georgia Allen of Mullens, WV. Sister Abrams was a long-standing member of Faith Temple of Deliverance Church in Beckley where the pastor was the late Bishop Bob Tunstalle. Sister Abrams worked diligently for many years as President of the Pastor’s Aide. She was also a member of Faith Temple’s national organization, Triumphant Pentecostal Churches, Inc. where the overseer is Bishop Tony O. Carter from NC.

Sister Esther Viola Abrams’ gift from God was truly her motherhood. She not only mothered her children and grandchildren, she mothered many, many more. The young people of the church affectionately called Sister Abrams “Big Momma.” Through her vast wisdom and nurturing ways, Sister Abrams was never too busy to listen and provide an encouraging Word from the Lord.

We love you and we miss you Mother.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Tuesday, March 12, 2024 at Faith Temple of Deliverance 119 Deegans St. Beckley with Bishop Rodney K. Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
