Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Ethelene ôPluckieö Henry, 85, of Beckley, died Tuesday, March 15, 2016.

Born September 17, 1930 in Slab Fork, West Virginia, she was the daughter of the late Tommy Joyce and Lucy Ellen Joyce Gilbert. She was a homemaker and member of New Hope Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Louis Henry; five brothers, Willie, Brady, Joe, Albert, and Edward Hill; three sisters, Essie Baxter, Clara Smith, and Odessa Guerrant; and great-grandson, Micah Henry.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her daughters, Janice Collier and Sandra (Nathaniel) Brim, both of Beckley, Sherry (Joe) Jones of Orange, NJ, and Denise Johnson of Smyrna GA; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 7 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Mary Hill and Martha Henry; special niece, Pauline Morris; special nephew, Carl Hill; special friend, Delores Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Monday, March 21, 2016, at New Hope Baptist Church, 305 Worley Road, Beckley, with Rev. Nathaniel Carey, Elder Keith Hill, and Evangelist Damon Hamby officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
