Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Evangeline “Van” Lannie Smith, 83, of Mt. Hope, WV died Sunday, October 28, 2018.

Born November 15, 1934 in Turkey Knob, WV, she was the daughter of the late Otha H. Payne Sr. and Lannie Elizabeth Gray Payne Wilson.

She was a member of United Missionary Baptist Church, Mt. Hope and worked as a medical clerk.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Washington.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her brother, Otha (Kim) Payne, Jr of Ventnor, NJ.; sisters, Patricia Dollisme of Mt. Hope, WV and Ailene (Ray) Berry of Morgantown, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, November 10, 2018 at United Missionary Baptist Church 205 S. Fayette Ave, Mt. Hope, WV with Rev. Walter Clay officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
