Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Frances E. Hughes, 93, of Beckley, WV died Sunday, March 10, 2019.

Born February 22, 1926 in Tams, WV, she was the daughter of the late Frank L. and Willie B. Moore Hughes.

She worked as a domestic, attended Byrd Prillerman High School, and was a member of New Salem Baptist Church, Tams, WV and St. John Baptist Church, Stotesbury, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Albert J. (Boots) Hughes, Maynard L. (Della) Hughes and sister, Christine (Charles) Johnson.

Left to cherish precious memories are her daughter, Lisa Penn (Fred) Moten; nephews, Kenneth Leslie (Evelyn) Hughes, Charles Leon (Valerie) Hughes, Albert Hughes and William Hughes; nieces, Patricia Dorcely, Phyllis Hutchinson and Pamela (Rev.Thomas) Moore; sister-in-law, Anna Terry; cousins, Juanita Lloyd and Rita Phillips; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, March 16, 2019 at First Baptist Church of Harper Heights, 257 Old Turnpike Road, Beckley, with Rev. Thomas Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
