Obituary For Mrs. Freda Pearl Burton

Mrs. Freda Pearl Burton, 85, of Oak Hill, WV, peacefully entered eternal rest on Saturday, January 3, 2026.

Freda, a cherished matriarch, devoted servant of God, and steadfast pillar of her community, lived a life defined by faith, compassion, and unwavering love. Her gentle spirit and generous heart touched all who had the blessing of knowing her.

Freda was born November 2, 1940, to the late John Brenton Staunton and Esther Hall Staunton,

Freda was raised in the warmth of a large and loving family. She is reunited in passing with her devoted husband, William Emanual Burton; sisters, Jacqueline Staunton, Vivian Staunton, Patricia Jennings (David), and Eva Ferrell (Tommy); and brothers, John B. Staunton II (Nancy, deceased) and Walker Staunton (Faye).

Freda was a devoted and faithful member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, where she served with honor and humility. As Mother of the Church, Matron Assistant of the Missionary Department, and Kitchen Hostess, she poured her heart into every act of service. Worship was her joy, and one of her favorite hymns, “Yes, God Is Real,” reflected the depth of her faith and the strength she drew from it.

Freda leaves to cherish her memory her sisters, Grestella Walker (Edward), Debra Wyatt (Bob, deceased), and Allison Washington (Toney); brothers, Phillip Staunton (Shirley), Milton Staunton (Gail, deceased), and Winston Staunton and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and friends who will forever hold her in their hearts.

Freda’s legacy is one of love, service, and steadfast devotion—an example that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Though she has departed this earthly life, her light remains, shining brightly in the lives she touched.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday January 17, 2026 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church 7064 Okey Patterson Road Carlisle. Burial will follow in Meadow Haven Memorial Park, Ingram Branch.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
