Obituary For Mrs Janice Jennifer Mayo

Our loving mother, Janice Jennifer Mayo, was called into eternal life on Sunday, April 4, 2021. She was born April 29, 1945 in Glen Rogers, WV to the late William W. and Fannie K. Amar.

Janice devoted her life to caring for her family. She married her late husband, William U. Mayo Sr. on September 25, 1964 in Washington, DC. They birthed five wonderful children and cared for two grandchildren throughout their marriage. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling in her free time. Janice accepted Christ at a young age, and she drew nearer to him as her time on earth came to an end. She was a member of Heart of God Ministries under the tutelage of Bishop Fred T. Simms.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughters, Karen Lawson, Mimette Mayo, and Da’Shauna Dean; sons, William “Dink”, David Stefon and Nathaniel Mayo; grandchildren Chaundra, David, Jennifer, Tiffney, Andrew, Quintin, Jahaun, Nastazia, Aujunee, and Stefoney; great-grandchildren, Tatianna, Alanna, Skylar, Amiya, Ayden, Helena, Aaryn, Amelia, James, Jael, Ta’hari, and Zo’livia; and brother, James (Doris) Amar. She was preceded in death by husband, William U. Mayo Sr; son, Reginald “Reggie” Mayo; five brothers, Robert, Samuel, William, Thomas, and Doug Amar; four sisters, Mary Amar, Racine Green, Reola Amar, and Cynthia “Moochie” Amison; grandchild, Qouvarvis Mayo great-grandson, Aries Massey and special friends, Audrey Totten and Violet Hickman.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, April 10, 2021 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St., Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing gloves and masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor, Inc. 748 S. Fayette Street, Beckley, WV 25801
