Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Joan Bernetta Bibbs McDaniel of Glen Jean, WV died Friday, March 6, 2015.

Born June 8, 1941 in Red Star, West Virginia, she was the daughter of Bessie Elizabeth "Lizzie" Sheppard Bibbs of Glen Jean, WV and the late Clinard T. Bibbs, Sr.

A 1956 graduate of Mount Hope High School, she worked as a professional Administrative, working at Newark Housing Urban Development (HUD), Turner Construction in NJ, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in GA, and ALICO in DE. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Glen Jean. Joan was a former member of Greater Mt. Moriah Baptist Church and former First Lady of Friendship Baptist Church, Tifton, Georgia.

In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Bibbs; grandmother, Clariene Sheppard; grandfather, Philip Sheppard; and aunt, Nannie Mae Sheppard.

In addition to her mother, she leaves the following to cherish her memory, her son, Randy Bibbs of West Virginia; daughter, Felice Bibbs of Georgia; 3 brothers, Clinard T. "Sonny" Bibbs Jr, of Delaware, Charles "Rodney" Bibbs of Delaware and Richard "Ricky" Bibbs of Glen Jean WV; aunt, Esther Smith of Beckley WV, 3 grandchildren, Felicia, Ian and Shante; four great- grandchildren, RaSean, Edward, Princess and Faizah and many cherished nieces, and nephews.

Funeral service will be 1pm, Tuesday March 17, 2015 at the First Baptist Church of Glen Jean with Reverend Eugene Nabors officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens, Oak Hill, West Virginia. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
