Obituary For Mrs. Josephine Louise Mealy Wooten

Mrs. Josephine Louise Mealy Wooten was born January 9, 1942 to the late Hembry and Levosia Townsend Mealy in Garten, WV. She was the seventh of eight children.

On March 25, 2019, the Lord called Sister Josephine home to eternal rest. May her soul find peace, favor, and acceptance with her Maker and indeed may her good works live on.

She was married to the late Alvin D. Wooten.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Edith B. Gray and Fred Tucker and two sisters, Allie Sledge and Jim Dalton.

She was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Fayetteville, WV. Sister Wooten was one of the “Mothers of the church” and also was a member of the choir. She really enjoyed the singing and the fellowship.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, who took an interest in each, and every one of her children for four generations. Perhaps she will be remembered best for the charming little things that vividly characterized Sister Josephine’s life: her quiet and unassuming disposition, her love and loyalty to family, her dedication and devotion to God and church and her gentle spirit. She was a very soft-spoken woman, but she always got her point across. Her infectious smile could melt the harshest of hearts.

Cherishing her memory are her three sons, Tony Booker of Oak Hill, WV, Kevin and Anthony Mealy, both of Lexington, KY; three daughters, Robin (Duke) Matthews of Fayetteville, WV, Levosia Pounds of Virginia Beach, VA and Colleen (Tony) Canada; one brother, Milton Tucker; two sisters, Martha Debram and Phyllis Gallman; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Friday, March 29, 2019 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 8687 Gatewood Road, Fayetteville, WV with Rev. Keith Walker officiating. Burial will follow in Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.

Deepest condolences for Mrs. Josephine's family. I hope you can find comfort in the scriptures at Acts 24:15 where Jehovah God promises a resurrection of our loved ones. Surely we can all look forward to a time where we could live forever on the earth in perfect health, without pain or death (Psalm 37:29 & Revelation 21:4).
