Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Lucy G. Watson Wooten, 89, of Glen White WV died Thursday, May 19, 2016.

Born September 21, 1926 in, Lynchburg, VA, she was the daughter of the late Bertha Woodson and Jeremiah Watson.

She was a homemaker and member of Shady Grove Baptist Church, Glen White, where she sang in the Gospel Choir and the Senior Choir. Miss Lucy, as she was affectionately known, enjoyed serving others through the church and through her work with 4-H, United Way, The WomenÆs Resource Center, WWHS Band Boosters, Homeroom Mothers, and the PTA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Sturgis Wooten Sr.; step-father, Rev. Paul Dolsey; brothers, John, Elbert, James, and Howard; sisters, Pearl, Eula, Minnie, Elizabeth, and Bernice and special niece, Elva.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her children: Sturgis Wooten Jr. of Beckley, Francine Wooten (Andy) Sinozich of Rock Hill, SC and Felica Wooten (Denis) Williams of Charleston, WV; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 23, 2016 at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha Street, Beckley with Rev. Dr. Felica Wooten Williams and Rev. Micah Blanks officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Garden, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
