Obituary For Mrs. Margaret Eveline Ross Pugh

Mrs. Margaret Eveline Ross Pugh was born on August 12, 1923 in Bud, WV to Thomas and Vada Ross.

Mrs. Pugh came into this world a carrot top with an outgoing bubbly personality to match it!

Margaret attended elementary school in Covel, WV and graduated from Conley High School in Mullens; she married Zeb Samuel Pugh in the summer of 1940.

Margaret was employed at Wyoming General Hospital in Dietary Services for three years. After leaving the hospital, she worked as an Outreach Worker with Community Action, later bridging to the Council of Aging as an Information and Referral Coordinator. Margaret worked as a Nutrition Coordinator for The West Virginia Extension Service for 15 years, retiring in 1996.

Mrs. Pugh was an active board member of The Council of Aging, Integrated Resources, and Community Action. Along with her husband, she was the cofounder of Wyco Water Works (currently the Logan County Public Service District) and the Wyoming County NAACP Chapter.

Above all, she loved The Lord. Margaret joined Mount Grove Baptist Church in 1945, working tirelessly as a missionary, deaconess, church trustee, and choir member her entire life. With an enduring love for gospel music, she was an active member of The Winding Gulf Singing Convention. Mount Grove was integral to Margaret’s life, especially its preservation for future generations; she firmly believed the church is God’s instrument for expressing His compassion and love for the world.

Everyone who knew Margaret was in awe of her sparkling personality and beautiful spirit. The warmth and happiness she brought to all around her cannot be overstated. An avid gardener with a true green thumb, she sprouted love like flowers, grew a garden in her mind, and even on the darkest days, her smile shined brightly.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Zeb; son, Rudolph; sister, Dorothy Roberts, and brothers, Captain Edward Thomas (Tuskegee Airman), June Thomas, and William Ross.

Margaret leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Faye (Shamsher) Singh of Fort Valley, GA, Geneva Pugh of Allen Junction, WV and Rebecca Pugh of Beckley, WV; grandchildren, Lucretia McMillan of PA, Millicent Singh of GA, Alya Singh-White (Maurice) of GA, Rudolph Pugh Jr., Belinda Pugh, and Valinda Pugh all of CA.

In addition, she leaves eleven great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Monday, April 3, 2023 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family two hours prior.

The service will be live-streamed via heartofgodministries-wv.org*

Faye, Geneva and Becky; my heart is filled with love and sympathy for you. I thank God for allowing me to meet Cousin Margret. Although she was about to turn 90 at the time she was full of love , kindness and joy. I learned so much from her in a few days. I love her spirit as well as her. I often thought of her and shared with family and friends about my 90+ cousin who drove a red car with "Foxy Lady" on the license plate.🥰 Truly God has called a beautiful soul home and I too will miss her presence. Love you family and blessings. Love and Prayers Cousin Joan Pilson.

Margaret Pugh was an eloquent lady. She could be defined many different ways but the one thing that defined her above all others; she was a child of the Most High God. We will miss you & your testimony of God's Goodness in your life.

Sis Pugh you truly were one of God's children and not ashamed of who your father was. So thankful for all our talks about the Lord and your encouragement. Surely our loss here was heaven's gain. You will be missed.

I have known sis Pugh all my life. She was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever known. She love the Lord and I know the Lord loved her. She was a lady of class never did I see her when she wasn't dressed so very fine. She always wore that big smile on her face and many times you felt better just be being around her. Often in my ministry she gave me advice and invited me to preach at the little church she so dearly loved. Love you Mother Pugh and I know we will meet again in heaven. Love you and surely will miss you. Mickey and Tammy
