Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Marie Martin Knight, 87, of Mt. Hope, WV died Saturday, March 25, 2017.

Born April 15, 1929 in Montgomery, WV, she was the daughter of the late Clarence OÆDell Shepherd and Louise Davis.

She was a sweet, lovely, and devoted mother. A person truly loved by all that knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Knight; brothers, Garneld Deener, Eugene (Barbara) Shepherd, Wendell (Mary, deceased) Shepherd and Charles Shepherd and sisters, Naomi Erbs and Juanita (Ray) Holland.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her sons, James (Rosetta) Martin of Baltimore, MD, Melvin Knight and Vincent (Elise) Knight, both of TN, Paul (Lynn, deceased) Knight of Mt. Hope, WV, Edward (Linda) Knight of Oak Hill, WV and Tyrone (Sheila) of Hilltop, WV; daughters, Nettie (Paul) Richardson and Maude Knight, both of Mt. Hope, WV; brother, Frank Shepherd III of TX; sisters, Ramona, Gladys, and Viola Shepherd, all of Scarbro, WV; eighteen grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; special friends, Gladys Payne and Thelma Patterson and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, 748 South Fayette St., Beckley, with Rev. Matthew J. Watts officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the chapel.
