Obituary For Mrs. Mary Alicia "Bit" Allen Wells

Mrs. Mary Alicia “Bit” Allen Wells, 79, of Oak Hill, WV formally of Mt. Hope/Turkey Knob, WV passed Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Bit was born Tuesday, January 28, 1947 in Beckley, WV, she was the daughter of the late Emmitt and Alicia Rachel Taylor Allen.

Bit graduated from Mount Hope High School, where she was in the Marching Band and held different occupations, including housekeeping and cashier. She was well known for cooking at Gino’s and was the store clerk at Mountaineer Mart, both located in town. She was a member of The Glorious Church of God in Christ, where she was involved in several organizations.

Bit, in addition to her parents, was preceded in death by her husband, Sandy Lewis Wells Sr.; son, Sandy “Boonie” Lewis Wells Jr.; brother, Charles Allen; paternal grandparents, Jim Allen and Mary Allen Penn; maternal grandparents, Charles and Mary Taylor; and sister-in-law, Fran Scruggs Allen.

Bit leaves to cherish precious memories her children, Rachel (Thomas) Shelton of Scarbro, WV; Melissa “Ann” Wells of Oak Hill, WV; Michelle (Tracy) Staples of Mt. Hope, WV; grandsons, Joshua Barringer, Thomas Shelton, Teamo (Priscilla) Shelton, Antwjuan Pagan, Raizon Wells and Andrew Staples; granddaughters, Tomasa Wells, Alicia Wells, Shyan Wells and Andrea Staples; great-grandchildren, Ароllo Pagan, Hades Pagan, Amiya Wells and Zamira Mary Shelton; siblings, Edna “Sis” (Ralph) Farrow of Turkey Knob, WV, Emmitt “Bro” (Joberta) Allen of Mt. Hope, WV, Lewis “Mike” (Debra) Allen of Turkey Knob, WV; Bishop Elect Thomas “Joe” (Velma Jean)
Allen of Mt. Hope, WV; and Leslie “Tot” Allen of Mt. Hope, WV and a host of nephews, nieces, cousin, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Wednesday, September 9, 2026 at the Glorious Church of God in Christ
421 Main St. Mt. Hope. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
