Obituary For Mrs. Mary “Baby Doll” Evans
Mrs. Mary “Baby Doll” Evans went home to be with her Lord on Sunday, September 18, 2022 in Roanoke, VA.
Mary was born on November 29, 1947, in Page WV, to the late Willie and Lilly Hoston.
Mary, fondly known by many as “Baby Doll”, was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She was the family matriarch who was known for her famous smile and infectious laugh. Her children and sisters’ children will have fond memories of her loving heart and words of encouragement.
Mary, after the death of her husband, spent time in both WV and Baltimore, MD, where she raised her children and grandchildren. She also worked at Bonsecure Nursing Home while in Baltimore, MD.
Mary took great care of her family and was known for her generous spirit. She was the central figure in the lives of her children and grandchildren and she always ensured that everyone was safe, happy, and healthy.
Mary, in addition to her parents, preceded in death by her husband, James Evans; brothers, George Hoston and Charles Hoston; grandchildren: Ashley Hicks and James Evans; mother-in-law, Elsie Browder and brother-in-law, Clifford Goard.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories her daughters, Maria Jamison and Carmen (Kevin) Evans, both of Beckley, WV, Mary “Lil Mary” Evans of Catonsville, MD, and Elissa Hoston of Baltimore, MD; sisters, Elizabeth Goard of Catonsville, MD and Drema Browder of Oak Hill, WV; grandchildren, Cherish (John) Lewis, Radiance (Douglas) Staunton, Kendell (Autumn) Jamison, PFC Christopher Evans, Timothy Goard, Jr., Sydi Darden, Kevin Edmonds, Jr., Camren Edmonds, Brianna Hoston, Ryan Hoston, and Johnathan Hoston; great-grandchildren, Zariyah Staunton, Aniyah Staunton, John Lewis IV, and Ezra Brady; nieces, Kimberly (Donald) Leftwich, Tiffney (David) Canterbury, and Lori (Brad) Davis; five great-nieces and great-nephews, Jeremiah, Nevaeh, David, Aayanna, and Maxton and a host of other friends and family.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday, September 30, 2022 at Community Restoration Worship Center Lincoln St. (Harlem Heights) Oak Hill with Pastor Shannon Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Haven Memorial Park, Ingram Branch.
Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service.
