Obituary For Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Morton

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Morton, 77 of Beckley, WV was called home on Wednesday, January 10, 2024

Mary Elizabeth Morton was born on December 8, 1946, in Red Star, Fayette County, WV.

Mary was the daughter of the late Reverend Alvin Kyle Pryor and Amanda Louise Terrell.

Mary was a retired Charge Nurse employed at Pinecrest Hospital.

Mary had a praying, kind, generous soul, and was the loving faithful Sheperd’s wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and true friend. Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rev. Robert D. Morton, daughter Zina Elizabeth Morton Davis James, siblings Alvin Pryor, Jr., Johnny Terrell, James Curtis Pryor, and Charlene Pryor.

Mary leaves to cherish irreplaceable memories her brothers, Leroy (Frances) Pryor of Virginia Beach, VA, Godfrey (Geraldine Maniece) Pryor of Beckley, WV, Donald (Cynthia) Pryor of Virginia Beach, VA and Joseph Pryor of Charleston, WV; sisters, Thelma Pryor Gill of Virginia Beach, VA and Betty Ann Saunders of CA; children, Robert Oscar (Genice) Morton of Jackson, MS, Alvin W. Morton I of Enfield, CT and Cassandra A. (Clarence) Owens of Beckley, WV; son-in-law, Thomas James of Beckley, WV; grandchildren, William C. Davis II, James C. Crawford, Katelynne Bell, James Owens, Savannah Morton, Hannah Morton, and Lexii Viegas; great-grandchild, Trey Davis, and a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Central Baptist Church 197 Brooks St. Beckley with Rev Franklin Hairston moderating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.

In lieu of flowers and food, the family request donations be made to the Bowers House 454 Cranberry Drive, Beckley WV 25801.
