Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Mary Ellen Hill, 98, of Glen White, WV died Wednesday, January 15, 2020 in Marietta, GA, following a long illness.

Mrs. Hill was born January 12, 1922 in Hale County, AL, she was the daughter of the late Jimmy Mickens and Sally Banks.

Mrs. Hill was a homemaker and devoted member of Shady Gove Baptist Church, Glen White, where she served on the usher board, sang in the choir and represented as mother of the church. In addition, she was very active with social services and became a foster parent of over twenty children during her lifetime. Mary had a passion for nurturing children, and loved her family and community. She also enjoyed travelling and baking her famous sweet potato pies.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Hill; son, Ronald Hill; brother, Willie Riddle and three sisters, Pearl Lewis, Idell Hill and Idora Wright,

Mrs. Hill leaves to cherish precious memories are her six daughters, Sheila Hill Booker of Woodstock, GA, Marie Donerson of Aldephi, MD, Rosa Gregory of Beckley, WV, Flora Loretta Edwards of Anchorage, AK; Mickey Perry and Correne Perry, both of Durham NC; brother, Joe Shepard of Cleveland OH; twelve grandchildren; thirty great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; special friend and caregiver Nneka Ezeruo of Woodstock, GA and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00pm Friday January 24, 2020 at New Jerusalem Holiness Church Glen White with Elder Rodney Keith Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
