Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mary Evelyn Wells Riddick, 88, of Oak Hill, formerly of Mt. Hope, died Thursday, March 5, 2015.

Born October 7, 1926 in Eunice, WV, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Evelyn Ruth Young Wells.

A graduate of Dubois High School, she lived and worked in New York for 50 years, where she attended The Refuge Temple Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Tyler Wells; five sisters, Helen, Catherine, Shirley, Judy Wells, and Betty Jones.

Left to cherish precious memories are her daughter, Helen (Ronnie) Lewis of Oak Hill, WV; grandchildren, Dr. Catherine Lewis of Raleigh, NC and Danielle Renee Lewis of Oak Hill, WV; great-grandson, Matthew Dean William Webb of Oak Hill, WV; brothers, Stanford, Carl (Ruth) and William (Nancy) Wells; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 12, 2015 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, 748 S. Fayette Street, Beckley, with Pastor Rick Edwards and Rev. Debra Smoot officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity, WV. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral parlor.
