Obituary For Mrs. Mary Jane Ambler
Mrs. Mary Jane Hairston Ambler, 64, of Beckley, WV was born on April 27, 1960 at Wyoming General Hospital in Mullens, WV to the late Alhmernita Hairston.
Mary transitioned home to be with her Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at her home in Beckley after a valiant four plus years battle with cancer.
Mary graduated from Mullens High School where she was a member of the girls' basketball team. She attended West Virginia State College and later joined the military; United States Army and West Virginia Army National Guard where she dedicated thirty-one years to serving her country rising to the rank of Master Sergeant receiving multiple awards and a Master's degree. She was deployed to many areas around the world. One of her favorite sayings was "ARMY STRONG" and she was.
Mary also worked in the private sector as a supervisor, CNA, OR Transporter, cashier and stock employee. She wore many hats in her life including being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She truly loved this part of her life.
Mary was preceded in death by her mother, maternal grandparents, uncle and her eldest daughter.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Mark; daughters, Delmeshia Simmons and Jelisa Collins, both of Beckley, WV; "chosen son," Chris Henry of Beckley, WV; grandsons, Nasir Dillard, Zachary Hulce and Tyler Simmons; granddaughters, Neveah Dillard, Jessica Hulce, Mi'la Simmons and Shikamonte' Morris; great-granddaughter, Luna Manning; brothers, Wiley Jett, Jr., Charles (Betty) Underwood; sisters, Rue Hairston and Tamatho Underwood; extension children, Antoni, Brandon, Wiley, Derek, Devin, Brice, Luke, Braiden, Elizabeth, Aaliyah, Hannah and Natalia; extended family, Carolyn Hopkins, Jessica Brandon-Jamison, Tina Cosby, J'Kea Thompson, Janina Atkins, Jheri Staples, Ashley Neal, John Roker, Myanzie Clark, and their families along with a host of friends and colleagues, who will definitely miss her.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.
