Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Mildred "Emily" Pettry, 81, of Naoma, WV, left this world November 17, 2018 at the Bowers Hospice House, Beckley, WV.

She was of the Christian faith and is now resting and at peace with our Lord Jesus Christ.

Born April 24, 1937 in Pineknob, WV to James Carl Pettry and Alpha (Dickens) Pettry and step daughter of Don Canterbury.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her miscarried son, Timothy, and her sister, Ida Sharon (Canterbury) Burnside.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 60 years, James Okey Pettry of Naoma, WV; daughter, Teresa Lynn Pettry of Naoma, WV; son, James Kevin Pettry of Texas; granddaughter, Raven L (Burns) Davis (Robby) and their son (great-grandson), Ayden C Davis of Bloomingrose, WV; granddaughter, Taylor N (Pettry) Massey (Jordan) and their son (great-grandson), Carson B Massey of SC; grandson, Naythan James Pettry of Whitesville, WV; two brothers, Don Canterbury, Jr. (Janis) of Tennnesse and Randy Canterbury of Beckley, WV and one sister, Brenda (Canterbury) Price of Rock Creek, WV.

The family appreciates each and everyone that asked about, visited, and most especially prayed with and for her. Psalms 23 was read to her, and she loved "God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference".

As per her request, her earthly body was cremated and there will be no services conducted.
