Obituary For Mrs. Nannie Elizabeth “Peggy” Mann Rogers
Mrs. Nannie Elizabeth “Peggy” Mann Rogers, 87, of Red Star, WV was called home by her Heavenly Father to her eternal home on the morning of Friday, November 16, 2018.
Born on July 26, 1931 in Thurmond, WV, she was the only child of the late John Henry and Tulip Esther Byers Mann.
Affectionately known as "Mama" and "Grandma", she was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, watching her grandchildren grow up, cooking soulful meals and holiday dinners, and she loved her dogs, who were by her side when she passed away.
Mrs. Rogers was a faithful and devoted Servant of God. She instilled the teachings and the wisdom of Jesus Christ and the Word of God into her children, grandchildren, and all that crossed her path. Throughout her life she became Sister in Christ and Spiritual Mother to many who shared in her love and trust in our Lord and Savior. She prayed for her loved ones and friends, watched her favorite Christian programs, and loved listening to gospel music, even until her last moments on earth.
She reunited on the streets of gold in Heaven with her late father and mother; husband, Warren O. Rogers; sons, John A. Rogers, Sr., Nathaniel Pierre Rogers, Roger L. Rogers and grandson, John A. Rogers, Jr.
Her warm heart and beautiful memories will live on forever and be cherished by Carolyn A. Rogers of Harvey, WV; Owen O. Rogers of Red Star, WV; William “Billy” (Shelia) Rogers of Nyack, NY; Phyllis M. Slay of Beckley, WV and Tamela D. Rogers of Red Star, WV. Mrs. Rogers raised three of her grandchildren, Robert Terriell Porter, Felisha D. Porter and Jessica R. Porter, all of Red Star, WV; grandchildren, Cassandra Rogers, Natalie Rogers Ward, Tina Nabors, Tasha Rogers, Tamika Rogers Nicholes, O’wynn Rogers, Shaniesa Rogers Blackwell, Linwood Rogers, Michael Slay, Bryan Slay, Tamar Slay, Jason Slay, Latoria Wright Rogers, Ayala Lolly Rinehart and Isaiah Rinehart; 32 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren and a host of cousins and in-laws.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Church of God Family Worship Center, 224 Pinewood Dr. Beckley with Pastor David F. Allen officiating. Burial will follow in High Lawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
Friends my call one hour prior to the service.
Repass will follow at Fishes and Loaves 224 Pinewood Dr. Beckley.
