Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Newassa Delayne Rhodes, 87, of Beckley, died Friday, September 7, 2018.

Born September 12, 1930 in Quinwood, WV, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Cleo Davis Creasy.

She was a member of St. Matthew A.M.E Church and worked as an OB/GYN Nurse at Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, American Red Cross Volunteer and special-needs assistant at FMRS, Beckley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Goldie F. Rhodes; sons, Reginald (Sandra) and Goldie C. and grandson, Ronald Lawrence.

Left to cherish precious memories are her sons, Freddie of Bluefield, Kermit (Marie) of Beckley; daughters, Vanessa Rhodes and JoAnn (Mike) Ross, both of Beckley, and Marsha (Michael) Brookins of Severn, MD; sister, Carlyn Gordon of Denver, CO; uncles, Clarence (Lavera) Davis of Somerdale, NJ and Larry Davis of NY; nephews, Reginald Creasy, Carl and Eric Lopes, all of Denver, CO, Michael Lopes of Cape Cod, MA and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 S. Kanawha St., Beckley, with Rev. Debra Smoot officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
