Obituary For Mrs. Norma Jean Robertson

Mrs. Norma Jean Robertson, 82, of Beckley WV went home to rest with her blessed Savior April 22, 2022. Born January 27, 1940, in Beckley WV, she was the daughter of the late Moses Wilson and Samantha Bridges. She was an active member of Free and Independent Holiness Church, where she served as church secretary. She loved her church family with her whole heart. Not a day went by without a church member checking on her. She worked over 30 years as a domestic employee.

Whenever you mention Norma Jeans’ name, people immediately would respond “what a sweet, kind soul.” Her laugh and smile would light up a room. ‘Granny Norm’ (as she was known to all her grandchildren) took pride in everyone of her grandchildren. She cherished every moment she spent with them. Norma Jean lived her life as a selfless individual. Although she will be missed, we take comfort in the fact we will always carry a piece of her goodness and wisdom with us always. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Robertson; brothers, Roy, Lewis, and Ralph Wilson; and a sister, Marion Henry.

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Ricky Wilson Sr. and his wife, Noel of Bluefield, WV and Harold “Gary” Wilson of Harrisburg, PA; grandchildren; Ricky Wilson Jr., Erin Wilson, Sherreka Wilson, LeVoria Penn, Misty Drafton, Andrea Hollinghead, Brittany Wilson Gary Wilson Jr. and LaShima Murdock, along with twelve great-grandchildren. Also, left to cherish her memory is one sister, Beverly Robertson of Mabscott, WV and her husband, Randy; special nieces, who devoted their time to her, were Genese Cox and Andrea Simmons; along with a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, that were near and dear to Norm Jean, are sister Deloris Stewart, Barbara Coleman, Patricia Austin and Rosa Clark.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, April 30, 2022 at Free & Independent Holiness Church 106 7th St. Beckley with Elder David Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing mask and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.

Our sincere condolences to the Family of Sis. Norma Jean Robertson. I fondly remember how mother would allow my youngest sister and I to visit Granny Norm ,as we affectionately called her, when she lived in West Wickham. She was so kind and loving. Granny Norm always sent us home with candy and treats. She became my oldest daughter LeVoria's "for real" granny Norm several years later. It was a blessing to have known and loved her. Rest In Peace. Love and Prayers, Connie Starkey, Carol Wallace and Families.
