Obituary For Mrs. Ollie Mae Moore

Mrs. Ollie Mae Moore, 84, of Lanark, went home to be with the Lord, Wednesday. May 22, 2019 after a long illness.

Born April 27, 1935 in Spratt, AL, she was the daughter of the late James Richard and Mary Sue Daniels Moore.

Ollie was a 1952 graduate of Stratton High School (and received a four-year scholarship) Beckley, WV.

After graduating high school, Ollie migrated to NY. After living there on and off for several years, she returned to WV to become a housewife, mother, godmother and community mother to many and help raise six of her siblings, she was a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, where she worked with the youth and served as church clerk for many years.

Ollie, in 1963, married the late Harvey James Moore in Lanark where they resided.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughters, Brenda Caffee and Donna Campbell; brothers, James and Abner Moore; sisters; Dora Cousin, Mary Brown and Connie Scott and grandson, Cameron Moore.

Left to cherish precious memories are her sons. Elder Terry W. (Denise) Moore, Troy Moore and Barry A. (Dulcie) Moore, all of Lanark; daughters, Cynthia Moore and Susie M. Ayers, both of Lanark; sisters; Carolyn Crider of Brooklyn, NY, Joann Poole of Lanark, Betty Hughes of Cambria Heights and Patty Merritt of Durham, MC; 22 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; special-in-laws Roy and Bronzie Hatcher and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday May 31, 2019 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Elder Terry W. Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
