Obituary For Mrs. Peggy Ann Staunton

Ms. Peggy Ann Staunton, 77, of Ingram Branch, died Wednesday, June 19, 2019.

Born February 15, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Garland and Mattie Christine Staunton. She attended Ingram Branch School in Ingram Branch, WV. She found and accepted Christ into her life at an early age at Ingram Grove Baptist Church in Ingram Branch, WV. She was a great mother figure to a host of nieces and nephews. Peggy spent a great portion of her life being a devoted caretaker and companion for her beloved late mother, Mattie “Booch”. Anyone who knew Peggy knew of her love for cooking fudge and drinking Pepsi.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mammie Staunton and brother, Levi Staunton.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her son, Douglas (Elizabeth) Staunton of Ingram Branch; three sisters, Elizabeth Daniels of Jamaica, NY; Etra Wells of Southfield, MI and Thelma Winston of Freeport, NY; brothers, Winston Staunton of Burlington, NC; Daniel Staunton of Jamaica, NY; Irvine (Louise) Staunton of Springfield Gardens, NY; Charles Staunton of South Ozone Park, NY and Oscar Staunton of Beckley; four grandchildren, Douglas (Radiance) Staunton of Windsor Mill, MD; Jasmine Rodgers of NY; Melanie Staunton of Bronx, NY and Nevaeh Nicholas of Oak Hill; three step-grandchildren, DaShawn, Jaquel and Alex of Ingram Branch; two special great-granddaughters, Zariyah and Aniyah Staunton of Windsor Mill, MD; a very special friend and cousin, Nellie Moore; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Funeral service will be 11:00am, Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church, 7065 Okey L. Patterson Road, Carlisle, with Rev. Dr. Gloria Wade Dillion and Rev. Charles V. Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Meadow Haven Memorial Park, Ingram Branch.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
