Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Phyllis Elaine Simms Parker, 64, of Detroit, MI., died Monday, May 30, 2016.

Born November 22, 1951 in Pence Springs, WV, she was the daughter of the late George and Audrey Simms. Also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Sue Polk.

She worked at Richmond Cleaners, was a CNA for 21 years at Heartland, and graduated from Trap Hill High School.

One of her greatest joys was traveling to WV to spend a vacation with her siblings, nieces and nephews. When having phone conversations with her siblings she would always end the conversation with "I love you so much."

Left to cherish precious memories are her beloved husband, Gilbert Parker III; son, Raymond (Toni); step-son, Tony (Tiffani); grandchildren, Antonio, Anandi, Ciera, Dante, Kadarrie, Blake, and Bryce; brothers, Bishop Fred T. (Marilyn) Simms and Bishop Jimmy (Lynn) Simms; sisters, Sandra (Herbert) Copeland, Cordelia (Sam) Rush, Loretta Coleman, and Debra Simms Cross; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 10:30 am Monday, June 6, 2016, at Gate to Glory Apostolic Church, 5549 Oakman Blvd. Detroit, MI with Bishops Jimmy and Fred T. Simms officiating.

Friends may call thirty minutes prior to the service at the church.
