Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Rebecca Robinson-Thomas, 87, of Beckley left this life on Monday, January 16, 2023.

She was born May 31, 1935, in Beckley, WV to Edward Bradshaw and Juanita Washington. As an only child, she loved the attention of her uncles growing up.

Rebecca was married at a very young age to Stanley Robinson. They had five children (2 sons and 3 daughters) together, Stanley Robinson (deceased), Lee Robinson of Beckley, WV, Carrie Stroud-Armstrong of Beach Park, IL, Pearl Yarn and Ethel Royal, both of Ft. Wayne, IN. Stanley Robinson, her first husband, passed away in 1977. Later she adopted a son, Maurice Robinson into her family. In 1999, she met and married James Thomas in Ft, Wayne, IN. He passed away in 2008, and she returned to Beckley and was happy to be home again.

Rebecca has been a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Rebecca was a caregiver, first to Mrs. Carrie Washington of Beckley, until she passed away, and then to others as she moved to Ft Wayne, IN to care for an uncle in 1998.

Rebecca was loved by all the children she met and worked with in Sunday School and a Head Start centurion in Beckley and Ft. Wayne, IN.

Rebecca Robinson-Thomas loved to sing hymns of praise to God at church and at home. She often said, ”Thank God I am 87 years old and with a mind to Know it, grandma did not make it, daddy did not make it, and my uncles did not make it” Many outside the family and family members will always remember how she would tease them by saying, “I will give you what you need and not what you want.”

We want to acknowledge that Rebecca Robinson-Thomas is survived by her brother-in-law, Marland; two cousins, Marla and Roy Frances; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 11:00AM Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Sky Ministries 815 S. Fayette St. Beckley with Rev. William Fruit officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior.
