Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mrs. Ruth Alma Harper, 91, of NC, formerly of Minden, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016.

Born November 24, 1925 in Slab Fork, WV, she was the daughter of the late Andrew Walter Jackson and Elvira Lucy Brown Jackson Herring.

She was a homemaker, devoted wife and faithfully served as National Evangelist of the Glorious Church of God in Christ, Brooklyn, NY.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leon ôRabbitö Harper; sisters, Madeline Roach, Lorraine Billie Riggins and Inez Elviria Evans; nieces, Marie Weatherby and Linda Evans and great-nephew, James Weatherby.

Left to cherish precious memories are her sisters, Annie Johnson of Brooklyn, NY and Linda Jackson of Detroit, MI; brother, Carlton A. Jackson of San Francisco, CA; Godson, Bishop Gary Brydie of Huntington, WV; nieces, her caregiver, Jeanette Cotton of Hassell, NC, Arnita Jackson and Sandra L. Evans both of Oak Hill, WV, Cherita McKibben of Charleston, WV and Rosalind Evans of Beckley, WV; nephew, Willie W. Evans Jr. of Laurel, MD, and a host of great nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Glorious Church of God in Christ, 421 Main Street, Mt. Hope, WV with Bishop Gary Brydie and Bishop John Grant officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
